Turner Summons McMillan
A police summons was issued for Aneurin Bevan. charging him with dangerous driving and failure to stop after an accident. The accident, near London, was a minor affair, but it was not the only charge of recklessness made last week against Nye Bevan.
The Premier, swallowing his indignation, then wrote: "Come to see me Wednesday," and sent the summons by messenger. But the messenger did not hand it personally to Juin, and the Marshal lost his temper at this breach of etiquette. "Another day," he retorted, "not tonight."
"New, I get a bang from helpin' people out. And look, kid, in case you think maybe about not answering the summons, remember it'll cost me $50 an'you wouldn't want to do that to summone who's helpin' you out, would you?"
The law authorizing police to tow away "guilty" automobiles applies only to out-of-state cars because summons can be sent to owners of Massachusetts' cars at their homes.
