Most of the coaches said that UVM and Wyoming are about even in jumping, and according to a Colorado team member, the Buffalos, with their three superb Norwegian jumpers, "aren't going to worry if they're only seven points down after the downhill...

...cast is superb. The two parents, Nagg (Tom Costello) and Nell (Saskia Noordhoek Hegt), are like moths whose wings have iced. They flutter feebly, not in the text's ash bins, but in a laundry hamper and a G.E. refrigerator carton. Their crippled son Hamm (Gerry Bamman) treats the universe as a sorry joke, his servant Clov (Larry Pine) as a straight man, and his fate as a glorious chance to play M.C. in death's cabaret...

THIS PART OF the film is an unmitigated success. The humor is first class, the infusion of vaudeville routine ("Varsity Rag," "Blue Heaven") into this comedy of manners and madness is truly masterful, and the acting is on all sides superb. (Alister Sim is torturously funny as the horrified Bishop presiding over Jack's marriage.) Finch is suitably staunch as William, and Chamberlain contributes an amusingly eccentric interpretation of Byron as a pretty narcissist who arranges his curls carefully before entering a ballroom. Margaret Leighton, full of delicate malice, is superb as William's mother. "Your wife is a mass of nothing, Willie," she announces to her son, as if she had just concluded an elementary scientific investigation with a magnifying glass and a tweezer. Not a completely unfair appraisal of the movie, either...

...close race with Mitchell and Penn's Ted Kriebel within a second or two of each other, but Harvard's Tim Neville is a strong favorite in the 50-yd. free. The 100-yd. free will probably go to Mitchell, but Kriebel or Atkinson, both of whom swam superb legs on a botched Penn 400-yd. free relay in Harvard's 58-55 upset win last year, could...
