...Vancouver shooting Final Destination. It had so much hype and I got back to Los Angeles right at the peak of Pie-dom and it was insane. My roommate and I don't really go out much, but when we'd go to clubs the girls would surround us. They'd never talk to me before but now they were all over me. So I didn't really take it too seriously. But my roommate did-he's like "Well I have this untitled tennis project coming out and I'm doing Urban Legend...

...exhibit called Sensation, Chris Ofili's controversial painting of the Virgin Mary smeared with elephant dung and speckled with pornography. "Sanitation" champions artistic expression in the face of political interference, but it is no more and indeed far less than the sum of its parts-twelve Rubbermaid garbage cans surround a framed version of the First Amendment, while an altered version of Jasper Johns's interlocking "Three Flags" painting, with one flag's corner drooping limply, hangs in the background, next to six quotes by Giuliani and perennial anti-National Endowment for the Arts stalwarts Jesse Helms, Pat Buchanan...

You gotta love the lunky guy, bluffing his way through this new musical version of Pinocchio and acting as if he owns the screen. Beyond this resplendent salon are the ivy strewn walls that surround the Somerset’s garden and terrace, known as “the Bricks,” where members and their guests can relax and sip single malt scotch in utter tranquility. The Somerset has traditionally been the haughtiest and most prestigious of clubs, one in which social pedigree...

French farmers staged a dramatic protest against the European Union a few years ago by hauling sections of wheatfields that had been uprooted, and cattle and sheep, to the center of the Champs Elysees. The police rushed to surround this sudden imposition of the countryside on the city, which disrupted business and traffic, and they braced themselves for fistfights between the citizens and the farmers. When the Parisians caught sight of the wheat and the animals, however, instead of reacting angrily, they ran toward them and began to stroll in the fields--lawyers, lovers, farmers, cops--dreamily together...
