Marshall might have fired Patton. The university might have considered intermediate steps - prefrontal lobotomy, say. Such companies and the charlatans who operate them seem always to have a ready and willing audience. They sell dreams and peddle fantasies to those eager to suspend disbelief--or, worse, as eager to corrupt a healthy skepticism into a self-serving prejudice as willing to decry an oppressive scientific establishment as to buy a silly story fabricated out of whole cloth.
