Arafat's room to maneuver was also cramped by his dependence on Syria, which helps sustain the P.L.O. as a military force. Syrian Prime Minister Abdul-Rauf Kassem has criticized the Fahd plan as "ineffective." But Foreign Minister Abdul Halim Khaddam is known to favor it, and President Hafez Assad has yet to be convinced. Should the Syrians and the P.L.O. finally side with the Saudis, other intransigent states like Algeria would probably go along, leaving Libya the main opposition to the plan...
...tribulations in Oz, each seems chosen for comical rather than didactic purpose. The first era represents Napoleon (Ian Holm) as a silly drunk, obsessed with height and puppets instead of the conquest of Italy. Holm is awkwardly funny in a sort of ludicrous, obvious way, not even bothering to sustain a French accent. Agamemnon (Sean Connery, looking at once--and for once--agacious, fatherly, and mischievous), is concerned more with magic tricks than his empire. Such is the toying with history and apparent lack of morality of these middle scenes...

Cinematographer Peter Bizou probably has chronic back pains from keeping the camera down on a level to make them look correct, but all the efforts in the world cannot negate the fact that these are tiny...

Superintendent of schools William C. Lannon, has made much the same forecast for the coming year, explaining that if the school sustain further funding cuts, the system will not have enough teachers to fill the classrooms...
...struggles as a writer. "At first I just wanted to tell people off, to kick ass. Like Mark, I just wanted to say things that were shocking and upset people, make them change. But you can't just come out and od that because it's not going to sustain an evening at the theatre. People will say, 'Big deal, you think that, so get lost.' You have to have structure, you have to have movement, you have to have humor, in order to make what you're saying more palatable. You have to appeal to the people and then...
