Already there is reason to think that the El Nino brewing in the Pacific may dwarf just about any other seen in this century. The swath of equatorial ocean over which it holds sway extends some 6,000 miles, a quarter of the globe's circumference. Temperatures at the sea's surface have been rising so rapidly that they seem likely to equal those of the notorious El Nino of 1982-83, which left 2,000 people dead and $13 billion in economic losses. "That was the biggest El Nino we know of," says climate modeler Stephen Zebiak of Columbia...
...begin with, one way of preventing divorce is to stop bad marriages before they start. The best part of Louisiana's law requires serious premarital counseling. So many of us, under the sway of Mad-Love Disease, haven't got a clue about what we're entering into. A marriage license should be at least as hard to obtain as a driver's license. Auburn Street any day of the week until 3 a.m. and buy a large slice of hot, greasy and (debatably) delicious pizza for $1.25. Unless otherwise requested (and why would it be?) all pizza is sold with the famous sesame seed edge. Tommy's also sells subs--the chicken parmesean is a favorite but the tuna should be avoided--and great garlic bread...
...forum. The second largest contributor to the Republican National Party the past year was Philip Morris, which gave $1.9 million. With the prominence of the nicotine and tobacco debate, and the increasing contentiousness between lawmakers and corporations that produce tobacco, surely the industry shouldn't have that kind of sway over the Republican party. In fact, the practice is so widespread that recently some Republican Congress members made it clear that they would not listen to any contributors to the Democratic party. I'm sure it applies vice-versa as well. After all, the Democrats haven't aired that soundbite...
