...States accept this principle. But some U. S. judges are as objectionable as some U. S. jurors, and hitherto the only way a lawyer could avoid trying his cause before a judge he disliked or distrusted was to prove prejudice on the part of the judge or to switch his case to some other court on jurisdictional grounds...

...surprised when the Guild, one of the youngest U. S. craft unions, met in St. Louis last week and voted to turn itself into an industrial union and to join the Committee for Industrial Organization, A. F. of L.'s insurgent offshoot. The only embarrassing aspect of this switch was that the Guild borrowed $2,000 from the A. F. of L. after voting to affiliate last spring and has not yet paid it back. That it could and would soon was evident from the healthy statistics brought out at the thriving union's fourth convention...

This plan came to nothing because it suited the Mauch twins' sense of humor to switch from time to time. This was by no means the first trick of the kind they had played. The Mauch brothers got their Hollywood jobs not because they looked alike but because they both look like Fredric March. Producer Wallis, who had been scouring the U. S. for a ten-year...
