...morning of his last day alive, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, head cleric of Islamabad's besieged Lal Masjid (Red Mosque), swore his readiness to die. "My martyrdom is certain," he told the local press. Within hours, Ghazi's bullet-riddled body was carted out of the basement of the sprawling mosque and madrasah, or seminary, complex where he and scores of heavily armed militants had battled Pakistani security forces for eight days. Ghazi is dead, but he may well come to haunt the President, General Pervez Musharraf, and the country...
Nobody will admit to actually liking DRM. Consumers feel retailers are treating them like potential copyright criminals. Retailers say they use DRM only because the labels make them. The labels blame us, the customers, for being such filthy music pirates. And around we go. Steve Jobs even swore that he would de-DRM every track on iTunes if only the labels would let him. (Jobs did broker a deal with one label, EMI, to sell DRM-free music, with higher audio quality. But it'll cost ya: DRM-free tracks will go for $1.29 vs. the standard 99¢.) Amazon...

He's halfway there, having dropped 54 on the Suns. The Blazers are on his calendar...
...There is a video on YouTube that tracks the obscenities uttered by each character in Glengarry Glen Ross, a movie you starred in which is well-known for its off-color language. Would you like to guess whose character swore the most...
...about ourselves. Richards seemed to be going for that onstage: "It shocks you, to see what's buried beneath you!" Yet he was not entirely wrong--there is ugliness buried in people--and it's our responsibility as culture consumers to ask where he might be right. Some people swore off Seinfeld reruns after Richards' explosion. I say watch them again, and think about how the comically ugly characters reflect him, and you. You might find that looking at Seinfeld this way--learning, if not hugging--makes the humor deeper and maybe even funnier. Look to the cookie, indeed...
