...advantage. I think they caught us on our heels a little.” A few minutes later, the Bears were fouled in the circle. On the ensuing penalty corner, Brown back Victoria Sacco took a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected by teammate Abigail Taft. Again, Stone was up to the challenge, blocking the attempt and ending the threat. The Bears kept applying pressure and, almost nine minutes into the first half, had yet another chance to score. This time, Stone made a save with her right toe on a shot by Brown midfielder Michaela...
...some ways, Paul is a throwback to the frugal and isolationist wing of the old Republican Party, the fuddy-duddy GOP of Robert Taft and Calvin Coolidge. His fiscal policies evoke the idealistic Republican revolutionaries who seized control of Congress in 1994; he wants to abolish the IRS, the Departments of Homeland Security, Education and Energy, and most of the federal government. He refuses to vote for unbalanced budgets, and he has opposed spending taxpayer dollars on Congressional Medals of Honor, even for Rosa Parks or Pope John Paul II. Typically, his campaign has reported no debts, and still...
...Green Mountain State was once an independent republic, and it still goes its own way; a 2007 statewide poll found 13% support for secession. They're all against impeaching [President George W.] Bush and [Vice President Dick] Cheney for their multiple high crimes and misdemeanors. And they're all against repealing the Taft Hartley anti-union law... One metaphor for [my] campaign could be the tugboat campaign, pushing candidates toward the harbor of the people and away from the harbor of giant corporations...
True, it may be factually accurate that Bush is the first president to provide federal funding for this type of research. I can’t help but suspect, however, that the pool of contenders for the title is relatively small. I’m sure Taft or Lincoln would have enjoyed that kind of street cred and mad props, but when it came to the scientific induction of pluripotent stem cells from adult human fibroblasts, I guess they just couldn’t tear themselves away from getting stuck in bathtubs and freeing slaves (respectively) to log enough hours...
