Perhaps the weakness of the plot lies in the fact that it's a motorcyclist--rather than the commander of a tank or the pilot of an F-14--who is sent back in time. In the end of the movie a helicopter--sent by the research company to find Swann--is very nearly shot down by a six-shooter, and we have to wonder what good all this technology is anyway...
