...Airlines Flight 587 have an important new piece of evidence. Government sources tell TIME that analysts at the National Transportation Safety Board last week got their first look at a remarkable videotape of the deadly accident. Recorded by a surveillance camera at a New York City area tollbooth, the tape captures nearly the entire catastrophe that sent the Airbus A300 crashing into a residential neighborhood in Queens less than 3 min. after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport on Nov. 12. According to an NTSB source, the plane can be seen "flying along normally and intact, and suddenly things...

...tape lasts just over two minutes, like a trailer for an upcoming horror flick. Three Arab men appear in separate shots: one has wide eyes and a gesticulating left hand; another appears to read from a text, never looking up at the camera; the third buries his head between his knees, then cozies up to a Kalashnikov and smiles. A senior U.S. official told TIME that the tapes were first viewed by CIA specialists, who passed them along to the FBI. Officials at both agencies were so convinced the tapes showed evidence...

...tape's narrator, according to authorities, is Hashim bin Abas, a 40-year-old Singaporean electrical repairman now under arrest. The video, along with notes and maps, was discovered by U.S. forces in the rubble of an al-Qaeda leader's house in Afghanistan in mid-December. Singapore police are now holding 13 men they say were part of a regional terrorist group trained and coordinated by al-Qaeda. The police claim the group was plotting to attack U.S. targets in Singapore, and two al-Qaeda operatives flew into Singapore in October to give advice on how to make...
