What happened after that is less certain. The President's voice can definitely be heard on one tape shouting, "Tinkle! Tinkle!? Can't anybody around here get anything right!" It now seems clear, though, that the President was not shouting at Heather May--and definitely did not shake her, as some early reports had it. The President's remonstrance was directed at an aide only recently promoted from senior step counter to script manager...

...sport my friends and I recently invented on the grassy lawn of Quincy House. During a trip to the superintendent's office, we discovered that a roll of toilet paper--when punted with a flick of the ankle--has surprising loft and travels far. Wrap the roll in masking tape to prevent the paper from unravelling, and voila--you have a genuine toilet ball, good for about 50 minutes of play before it totally falls apart. Advantages of toilet ball over conventional projectiles: It's soft to catch and can't possibly injure bystanders. It also costs nothing and recycles...

She goes a bit gooey when she talks about the nameless "him" for whom, she confesses, she is making a compilation tape so he can think of her while she is away in America. And like regular women everywhere--women who aren't, say, feminist icons who have written life-changing books like The Female Eunuch--she confesses, "I'm waiting for the phone to ring." It's not that Greer advocates such behavior...
