FITTINGLY and reciprocally enough, it is a Yale coach who has published the first book of import on the principles of squash since Harry Cowles' tabloid text, "The Art of Squash Racquets". Formerly assistant coach at Princeton, John Skillman is not only an expert teacher at the game, but also an active and expert player. In the past four years he has won the national professional championship twice, and was a tenacious runner-up in the other...

...argue that the instructors would be faced with the delicate problem of deciding whether a student's work is a low B or a full B. A similar issue arises at present, however, since the teacher must decide whether a high B student is eligible for a low A or not. It is also claimed that marks fluctuate, in some instances, between mid-years and finals, but it is inconceivable that a student, who had been exempted with a B, would fall to a D, or below the satisfactory final mark, if he had stayed in the course...

By cutting a few lectures men can miss the assignments altogether, and often those on hand get garbled versions. As courses come to use greater numbers of books and various lecturers, the need for correlated reading lists cries out louder; Economics 2a and 41 are specific cases where review for the examination would be immeasureably helped by a full printed outline. Meeting the students half way in this matter will not reduce the standards of learning a whit...

Were the cast study one of a reactionary chief executive ousting a college president for refusing to force teacher's oath on his faculty it would be more clear cut. But even a Progressive La Follette can, perhaps unconsciously, trammel the freedom he professes to hold dear. Fortunately there will be a public hearing on the case. If the evidence warrants removal there can be no complaint. But distressing and disastrous will it be if the power motive seems to stimulate such action...
