There is always a certain satisfaction in feeling that your team whether defeated or victorious has represented the whole strength of the University, and gone into its contests with each individual in condition to do his best. Moreover what has been accomplished this spring is to say the least more than was expected, so much had to be trusted...
Thus the new men even more than the old point winners, deserve great credit for their performances, and most of all is credit due the man whose efforts sought out and developed that material, to Captain Bigelow. His energy in the interests of the team has been untiring, and to the fact that he has had the courage of his convictions in matters of training, much of his success is due. He may well feel that the victory over Yale two weeks ago, and Saturday's good showing, are appreciated in the University, and that his season's work...
After the first defeat at Princeton it was expected that the men would brace up and play good ball, but a Harvard team has seldom shown poorer form in a big game than the nine last Saturday. Not only was the batting and fielding weak, but the men were listless and on several occasions showed the poorest kind of judgment in the handling of hits and in backing up the bases...
