Spain will have its first royal wedding in almost 90 years on Saturday, when Princess Elena Maria Isabel Domenica de Silos de Borbon y Grecia will marry Jaime Rafael Ramos Maria de Marichalar y Saenz de Tejada. But what will they call the kids?MONEY
...coup. But Natusch decided to vacate the presidential palace-literally through the back door -after widespread protests against his usurpation. Ignoring the fact that Guevara was, at least technically, the country's lawful acting President, Congress named a new interim chief executive. She is Lydia Gueiler Tejada, 53, a veteran leftist politician and an accountant by profession. Diplomatic observers in La Paz suspect that sooner or later-and it probably will be sooner-the first female to serve as the country's chief executive will be pushed through the revolving door of Bolivian politics...
...rural comunidades have concentrated on spiritual pursuits like reading, Bible study or training non-priests to lead services in remote districts that the church does not reach regularly. One of that country's priests was asked by his bishop to leave the southern sugar-cane town of Puerto Tejada when he started to help the citizenry demand potable water. Not since Cleopatra has a movie provoked so much gossip, speculation, expectation?and guerrilla war?even before going into production...
Little Raquel Tejada (the last name means, in Spanish, "Spears of Clay") was born in Chicago on Sept. 5, 1940 (not, as she claims, 1942). Her father, Armand, is a Bolivian-born structural-stress engineer; her mother, Josephine, is of English stock. When Raquel was two, the Tejadas moved to La Jolla, Calif., a pretty, plasticized, middle-class community just north of San Diego. Raquel grew up in an all-American ambience that would have been a natural for a California Norman Rockwell. The family, which included Raquel's younger brother and sister, lived in a one-story stucco house...
