Williams was defeated by the University baseball team in a ten-inning game on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon, by the score of 2 to 1. As in last year's game, the pitching contest between Hicks and Templeton was the deciding issue. This time Hicks had decidedly the better of it, for while he struck out only half as many men as Templeton, he had good control, whereas Templeton's wildness in the tenth inning was responsible for the winning...

Carr was the first man up in the tenth inning. For the third strike, Templeton pitched a low ball which escaped the catcher, and Carr reached first base before the ball was recovered. McLaughlin put him on second with a well-placed bunt and, after Carr had stolen third, Potter was passed to first. On an attempted double steal, Lambie made a wild throw past third, on which Carr crossed the plate with the winning run of the game...
