August C. Helmholz, 2d, '36, and James J. Thackarn '36, seeded fourth, won the University doubles tennis tournament by defeating Frank W. Jones, Jr. '35, and Sumner Rodman '35, seeded third, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals played indoors at Brookline.
Taking the best three out of five sets, Horace B. Shepard '34, won the Lowell House tennis tournament from David C. Crawford '36. Shepard took the first two sets, 7-5 and 6-3, lost the next, 1-6, but came back to take the fourth, 6-1.
James J. Fuld '37, won the Freshman Tennis Tournament yesterday by defeating Herbert M. Agoos '37, in the finals 6-0, 6-0, 6-4. Fuld prepared at Horace Mann School and is the Private School Champion of New York City. Agoos comes from the Boston Latin School.
