The octave speaks of "chords that bind", an unfortunate ambiguity; the sestet hovers momentaly on the threshold of beauty; but the poem as a whole is tenuous and inarticulate. The "Winter Night's Spell" of Mr. Best plucks an old lute. We cannot help wishing there were more lines like these...
