...Israelis were both irked and entranced by the results. It had been an uninspiring campaign. There was no Barack Obama in the race; even Lieberman, the hot candidate, was a tepid speaker. For Israelis, a nation of political junkies, the aftermath will be more fun than the campaign: there will be a fascinating dance as the various players wheel and backstab in search of a governing coalition. For the rest of the world, however, the results are cause for concern. And for the Obama Administration, Israel presents an even greater foreign policy challenge than before - especially if, as expected, Lieberman...
...Cold Wars go, NATO's season of half-hearted saber-rattling at Russia over its summer offensive in Georgia was decidedly brief, and tepid. It was with a palpable sense of relief - at least in the capitals of Western Europe - that the Alliance moved this week to bury the hatchet with Moscow, agreeing at NATO summit to resume relations with Russia that had been bedeviled by Moscow's military showdown with Georgia. But Crist's national aspirations were on display this year when John McCain courted him as a possible running mate, and the governor's first term ends, coincidentally, after the 2010 election. Even if Crist decided...
...mind memories of Michael Moore at his best. Ultimately, “Slacker Uprising” represents the culmination of a failed project. The film is a re-editing of “Captain Mike Across America,” a documentary that Moore premiered in 2007 to tepid reviews. Despite Moore’s efforts to reinvent this film, “Slacker Uprising” suffers from excessive self-indulgence. If Moore wants to return to his past excellence, he must do more than re-edit—instead, he must go back to the drawing board...
...second album as his highly politicized alter-ego. However, Morello, who was a Gov concentrator during his time at Harvard, apparently didn’t take any electives in poetry. His heart may be in the right place, but that’s hard to discern as this tepid album plays...
