...aggressive U.S. investors in the New China. They were joined by a legion of American CEOs. But Bush and Kissinger - bureaucratic rivals within the U.S. government 30 years ago - were the focal points. Both men are now octogenarians, literally old friends of China. And this "was a moment to thank them," said one Chinese participant, "and, in a sense , say farewell...
...thank that odd job in Africa for producing the 23-year-old U.S. flag-bearer at this Olympics opening ceremonies in Beijing. That night in Kenya, Lomong watched runner Michael Johnson win gold in the Sydney, and he was hooked. "It was so great to see somebody cheering for somebody running," says Lomong. "Running is something we did all our lives. It was our transportation." He told himself then that he'd be an Olympian. Not all of them are libertarians, however, and many have little in common with rural gun lovers. As you point out, the central goal of libertarianism is freedom. There is a group of Americans who support free markets and social freedom but do not necessarily consider themselves libertarian. We are educated urban dwellers--Bobos even. As a member of this group, I find neither Obama nor McCain appealing. When are politicians...
