...cano; Trojae -"; but I may have been mistaken; and, in fact, I am a little afraid that my imagination, always strong, on this occasion completely ran away with me. However, since that time I have lost much of my admiration for my former idol, and am rather getting to think Tom Brown the better fellow...
...Committee should hesitate to bind the College to a race with Cornell, at present our most doughty adversary, when they foresaw as possible what has now happened. We are at a loss to know to whom the term "boating representatives" applies; if by it are meant the crew, we think the Advocate fails to appreciate their feelings, for their withdrawal from the boat now is not "fickleness." If the Advocate refers to the Executive Committee it shows an ignorance of the delicate business they had in hand. The only fault that can be found with the Executive Committee is their...
...victories in two successive years, have decided to disband and make room for the younger rowing men in the University. While we regret as much as any one this action taken by the crew at a time when Harvard seems likely to lose its reputation for good rowing, we think it is more fitting to thank them for what they have achieved than to visit them with abuse and sarcasm. The times made in the bicycle race were very poor, one two-mile heat being run in worse than 11 minutes...
...Hare and Hounds Club, which have weekly runs, their last being over 12 miles in length. There are now several packs organized in New York with large memberships, and there is no better fun or better training than a good long spin after two good hares. One would think that the University and Freshmen crews would start some such thing, and meet once or twice a week. It is most splendid and thorough exercise, and far better for these men than plodding up to Fresh Pond or elsewhere at one uniform jog, and in funereal single file...
