...Mining has received notice of the gift of a lead smelting furnace, blower, and appliances by the Allis-Chalmers Company of Chicago, and the Wilbraham-Green Company of Philadelphia, both manufacturers of mining machinery. The furnace has a diameter of a little over a foot with a height of thirteen feet, and with the accessories is valued at about $700. It will be installed in the Heat Room of the Simpkins Laboratory. ...crew went over the two mile course yesterday afternoon finishing well below the Union Boat Club, in ten minutes and thirteen seconds. The crew spaced better and travelled faster during the last mile than they did during the first and at the finish they ran the stroke up to 35 to the minute without any difficulty.
