...Dartmouth hockey team, though weakened by the absence of Ross, the star goal tender, defeated the Yale seven in their annual "Prom," game at New Haven on Monday by the score of 2 to 1. Dartmouth's victory was rather unexpected, in view of the recent showing Yale has made. Coach Fred Rocque, of Yale, used a new lineup which proved ineffective. Landon played in the defence, Bierwirth moving up to the forward line. Van Nostrand and Armour played the centre positions, and Gould, who has been ineligible until recently, played left wing. Bierwirth scored Yale's goal, while Paisley...

...substitute goals, E. H. Martin '19 and G. E. Abbot '17, are both fairly dependable at the net, though Wylde is distinctly ahead of them in this branch of the game. Abbot graduates this year, but Martin gives great promise of developing into a good backstop for next year's team. He makes many excellent stops, although he does not handle his stick in clearing away the rebounds as well as he might. As soon as he develops this knack and learns to keep his feet a little better, he will be an excellent man to fill Wylde's position...

...second-string wings are W. O. Morgan '18 and R. Kissel '19, last year's Freshman captain. Morgan has already won his "H" and is a fast and very aggressive player, though his light weight makes his work harder. W. W. Rice '18 is another aggressive left wing man, and is also a very good shot. Kissel played right centre on the 1919 seven, and does not handle himself quite as well in the wing position as he did at centre. He generally covers his man well, but has a tendency to lag behind the line slightly, and his passes...

...that I am speaking for all German-Americans when I say that we will support the President through thick and thin and rise and fall with him. We may not enter into the conflict, if there is to be a conflict, as joyfully and eagerly as some others, but though our hearts are heavy and our souls are sick we see our duty clearly, and will not hestitate to perform...

...book. At no time in my remembrance have the undergraduates shown a more active interest in writing verse, or written better verse, than they are writing today: yet in this number of the Monthly the verse is more conspicuous for quantity than for quality. Mr. Hillyer's though not his best, is the best in the number. His lines "To a Portrait of Marguerite de Normandie" are in part quite worthy of him; but the second half of the poem is inferior to the first. His "After Parting," which in its first stanza is suggestive of Donne, is pleasing throughout...
