...Doncaster, England, the biggest crowd of the year (300,000) saw England's three-year-old champion, Lord Derby's Derby-winner Hyperion, win the St. Leger Stakes by three lengths, with the Aga Khan's Felicitation second. It was the 26th time a Derby winner had won the St. Leger. Hyperion's sire, Gainsborough...
Next day news that the mutiny was apparently successful-i. e. that the mutineers would receive suitable bribes from General Chen to turn over their ships- caused three more Chinese war boats, all midgets, to break away from the Northeastern squadron and streak for Canton. This was too much for Generalissimo Chiang. Since the newly mutinous ships were so very small, he ordered the three-year-old cruiser Yat-sen (China's newest) to leave Shanghai on a "mystery cruise," presumably to intercept the midgets...
BOOM! POW! CRASH! Every 15 minutes all night long bombs burst in Havana as token that the advertised Terrorist week against the Government of Gerardo Machado had commenced. Beyond breaking a great many windows and killing a three-year-old child, the bombs did little damage. When it comes to terror, horn-spectacled Dictator Machado is still more than a match for his opponents. Cursing, police reserves and ununiformed gangs of the dreaded Porra (secret police) poured out and went to work...

His California campaign was his first attempt in his own behalf. In The Blue Streak, his three-year-old Lockheed Vega, piloted by Capt. Harry Ashe, he toured Northern California. He harangued State societies in & around Los Angeles. Typical McAdoodle...
Favorites in last week's Hambletonian were Mrs. Ralph Keeler's three-year-old filly Marchioness and John L. Dodge's colt Hollyrood Dennis. Will Caton driving Marchioness won the first heat. Hollyrood Dennis won the second. Two out of three heats usually decide the Hambletonian but in the third heat last week Hollyrood Dennis broke (started to gallop) 200 yds. from the wire and interfered with Marchioness, pocketed behind him while Invader, a field horse, won. Marchioness, Hollyrood Dennis and Invader lined up for the fourth heat. After two false starts, they were fairly away. Caton...
