...doubt that each one can think of examples in his own class where this has happened. Suspension under the best circumstances is open to the charge of injustice. It is hard to say that a man shall be deprived of all instruction by the College for three or six months for a mere technicality; because he failed to attend the requisite number of prayers, because he was absent a certain number of times from church without an excuse, because perhaps he was seen on Jarvis "Bloody Monday night." ...regarding the statement of a student as false, while of a graduate, no matter if only of six months' standing, the direct contrary is assumed. In other words, if a student be requested to make a clear statement of his case, and if it be substantiated by two or three others, it is all considered as negative testimony, and is entirely overturned by one man's evidence, provided only he be a graduate; this is especially the case if there be the slightest prospect of an admonition or suspension...

...excellent manner in which the College Chapel has been repaired certainly reflects great credit upon those having it in charge. The commodious gallery, which extends along three sides and contains three rows of seats, has greatly increased the seating capacity of the Chapel, and we think has not marred the beauty of its proportions. The windows of stained glass, each of which bears' upon it the University motto, "Christo et Ecclesiae," admit a very soft and mellow light. The fresco work, though of a plain and unassuming style, greatly improves the general appearance...
