...After the debate, Mr. Hansin brought forward resolutions on the death of Greenough Thayer, which were adopted. Mr. Eaton suggested that instead of the meeting being opened by speeches by all four of the principal disputants, two (one affirmative and one negative) should speak and the debate then be thrown open to the house, the other two principal disputants closing. Mr. Wait spoke at length in favor of this plan. The subject for the next debate is, "Resolved, That the best interests of Massachusetts demand the re-election of Gov. Butler...
...Bradford secured the ball, and after making a good run threw the first goal in fine form, at some 40 yards distance. Soon after play was resumed, a goal was claimed on Simson's throw. But was decided to be wide by Mr. Atkinson. Soon afterwards the ball was thrown down the field a distance apparently of 120 yards, by Reuter, and Woods made a goal by a clever swipe. According to Mr. Lafarge's design, the figures should turn slightly toward each other, the younger poet as if appealing to his great predecessor...
...Saturday afternoon, while playing football, E. S. Richards, '85, the Yale goal kicker and halfback, was seriously injured. He was thrown in a scrimmage and wrenched and bruised his kneepad in such a manner that he had to be carried from the field. He will probably be unable to play again this season. This is a great loss to Yale as Richards is one of the best goal kickers in the country...
