Tomorrow at 3 o'clock the shot-putting contests and the competition in throwing the 35-pound weight will start. The University candidates throw a 16-pound shot while the Freshmen use a 12-pounder. The rules governing these events are the same throughout. Handicaps will be assigned and cups given the winners at the end of the winter season. In each event two prizes will be awarded, one to the man having the best average for the entire competition and another to the one making the best single scratch record...

...canvas curtain in the Cage for the hammer throwers was tried out with excellent results. The men stand about fifteen feet from the curtain and throw just as if they were doing regular work outdoors. Heretofore the hammer throwers have not been able to practice till the regular spring track season opens in March.
