Beginning in 1933 (there is no Festival in 1932), artistic director will be Impresario Heinz Tietjen of the Berlin State Theatre and Opera. Musical director will be Wilhelm Furtwängler, another onetime Philharmonic hero. Conductor Furtwängler, not Toscanini, will probably conduct Tristan und Isolde this summer...
