Whatever the reasons for State's timid concern over "security risks," they are ill-founded. So far during the last few months that power has been used to the nation's detriment, and election or no election, we hope that those who operate State will soon regain their courage...
Died. H. T. (Harold Tucker) Webster, 67, cartoonist ("The Timid Soul," "Life's Darkest Moment," "The Thrill That Comes Once in a Lifetime") of a heart attack; on a train near Bridgeport, Conn. But Farouk's interventions, though courageous, were fitful; the Shah's too timid. Farouk, famed for yachts, gambling and women, lost his popular support to the corrupt Wafd Party; he antagonized his army by failing to clean out the extortionists in his own palace...
...still lives simply in a Manhattan apartment, drives the motorcycle he bought from his friend, Actor Marlon Brando, still patches his trousers with plastic cement. He spends his weekends flower-watching on a newly acquired 2½-acre field in Rockland, N.Y. "Next thing," he says in his timid Peepersish voice, "I think I'll buy me a bunch of cows...
