...Hitchcock film. He can be seen currently as Big Bob Freedlander, the Jaycee mobile-home salesman in Smile, a comedy manqué about a teen-age beauty contest. Next month, he starts work on Won Ton Ton, a farce about the 1920's legendary wonder dog, Rin Tin Tin, in which he plays an old-line Hollywood director. But keeping busy is not the only answer. Says Agent Freddie Fields: "Bruce needs to make love to a woman on the screen." In his 19-year career, Bruce has only kissed a woman once. She was Karen Black in Gatsby...
...Tin-Pot Fascist. To judge by the uniforms worn at Claudius' court, the usurping king is a tin-pot fascist. Robert Burr plays the role like Dean Martin presiding at a "roast"; Andrea Marcovicci plays Ophelia like a stewardess in search of an Upper East Side singles bar; and if Ruby Dee's Gertrude is capable of loving either Claudius or Hamlet, it will certainly be news to them. And, in the great tradition of the music business, avoiding any things that might be regarded as "difficult" or "controversial"? The answer...
...time of the robbery, Inspector Jacques Clouseau was standing outside the bank, arguing with a beggar. The poor fellow was trying to earn a few centimes playing the accordion, while his pet monkey collected coins in a tin cup. Now you will recall from The Pink Panther and A Shot in the Dark that Clouseau has an immaculate and quite literal respect for the law. This is, in fact, why he is in uniform, on foot patrol, instead of dashing about in plain clothes and solving glamorous crimes. His strict adherence to the book, as well as an unshakable simple...
