...inspired by the Halloween weekend production dates. Though the two ideas should theoretically work together (What better way to make a man obsessed with time mad than by reversing time's direction?), implementing them was too unwieldy to be well-executed. The ambitiousness of the project exacted a heavy toll on the production quality, creating confusion in both the staging and the set design. As with much of the production, the design suggested a wealth of ideas and inspiration, but very little selectivity on the part of the designers as to which of these ideas to develop and refine. Though...

...desolate location on Commonwealth Ave. has obviously taken its toll on the restaurant, however. It is nearly empty (admittedly Sunday nights are never the most bustling) and the lights are turned up just a tad too bright. In fact, Cafe Japonaise just re-opened two weeks before our visit, offering only its delectable sushi rather than the full Japanese menu that was available prior to its closing. The restaurant's chef is on a mission to create an entirely new menu, however, which will include both sushi and a more international, French-Japanese fusion cuisine fit for the new millennium...

Aleman may want to pay more attention to history: It was political fallout from the 1972 killer earthquake that helped sweep the Sandinistas to power seven years later...

...Divx deck can run DVDs, it also plays its own disks. Divx decks plug into the TV, just like DVD drives. But they plug into the phone line too. When you first set up your deck, you must establish an account with Divx central--your machine calls a toll-free number, and you key in credit-card information. (The player automatically calls headquarters once or twice a month in the middle of the night, which I find creepy.) You see, rather than simply renting Divx disks, you buy them outright, for $4.50, and never return them to the store...

...notion of what she was doing. Never a master of realpolitik, and without a Kissinger, she "declared war" on the Irish Republican Army, precipitating a fresh onslaught of terrorist bombings in both Northern Ireland and England. We are still recovering from the radicalization of Irish politics--and the death toll that ensued--that she precipitated...
