"Courting Eighth-Graders" gave an accurate and somewhat troubling snapshot of the college sports scene and the mind-set of athletes who are looking to enter the world of sports at an early age [Oct. 8]. Academics may not be on the front burner for these kids, but I thought that TIME would at least give honorable mention to the importance of studying and learning.
