Although "Sex Without Love" tries hard not to be moralistic about teenage sex, the entire effort, in its tone, pace and solemnity, reminds the audience of a "Life...what a beautiful choice" commercial. Missing is the dubious examination of loss of innocence--in its joy and its amorality--which the poem itself would more aptly convey...

Fans of Martin's own particular brand of humor in his T.V. and movie roles will feel right at home here, since the tone and style of humor in Picasso match that of Martin's film roles. As a comic playwright, Martin uses many, if not most of the tricks in the book, including characters' conversing with the audience and openly referring to the play they're in, and ample use of smoke and explosions...

...Colapinto's performance leaves the realm of the comprehensible and becomes downright baffling is the second mode in which his Macbeth operates: the petulant. In delivering his lines, Colapinto seems to shift abruptly from shouts of anguish to the persona of a cynical, self-centered adolescent. Speaking in a tone of mingled peevishness and self-pity, he proceeds to recite Macbeth's lines as though he's whining at Fate for giving him such a hard time...
