...officials in Southeast Asia as they assess the likelihood of future attacks and formulate defense plans. Australian police said on Nov. 28 that the five-member team suspected of carrying out the Paddy's attack had formed a suicide pact (although only Iqbal died). Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said indications of suicide elements among Muslim extremists in the region posed "grave challenges" to governments trying to contain the terrorist threat. The day after Goh's warning, suicide car-bombers killed at least 15 people in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa...
...Such concerns were highlighted earlier this year when Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong revealed that Mas Selamat Kastari, the "most dangerous" of the 12 or so members of the Singapore Jemaah Islamiah cell who escaped arrest and fled the country, had been planning an attempt to crash a plane into Singapore's Changi Airport. It mixes artists from Croatia, Hungary and Malaysia with many of America's new generation of comix creators. Tom Hart's fat, almost crude lines perfectly match the brutal ecstasy of his superb "Sandra Brown...
...movie is Zhou's first outside of mainland China, but her luscious portrayal of Tong Tong, a woman by turns wide-eyed and desperate, shanghais the show. That's no mean feat for an ingenue, and except for Zhou and Glen Chin, all the film's actors are amateurs Chan plucked from the street. Despite the director's deft touch with comic characters, not all manage watchable performances. Chin's gruff, soulful Chu is a match for Tong Tong, and Leung earns kudos as the least annoying fat kid in recent Chinese cinema. But Ho's Ming does little more...
