Jay published the letter of an unnamed British soldier stationed on the lonely island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, asking for a wife who is "blonde, lively, a non-smoker about five feet three, not too plump." Of himself he mentioned only his hazel eyes. Mayor Jay got applications from 250 British women, forwarded them without comment to Mauritius...
