Living in "Pfoho" would require some major changes, all seemingly for the worse. I feared that I would gradually lose touch with many of my closest friends, randomized to Eliot House, with its beautiful river view (and accompanying stench), its storied history of snobbishness and, of course, Ted Kaczynski '61. I would rarely again have the opportunity to talk to Ralphie while awaiting those huge slices of Pinocchio's pie, the best in Cambridge. And I thought that I would have to get used to a new area code (666?), given how far the Quad is from the Square...

...fears were furthered through conversations with upperclass students. When people asked where I got randomized and I responded, "the Quad," a deathly pall fell over the group. Close friends averted this gaze, each waiting for someone else to speak first. Finally, one would inevitably whisper, "I'm sorry" and touch my shoulder...

Last week he was at it again, offering an expanded version of the G.I. Bill...

Last week IBM and a group of 15 U.S. and Canadian banking behemoths, including Bank of America, Banc One and Mellon Bank, unveiled a venture that aims to provide a full range of financial services to the banks' 60 million customers at the touch of a telephone button or the click of a mouse. Called Integrion, the partnership will phase in such activities as bill paying, electronic lending and stock and bond trading beginning next year. "If we are dinosaurs," says Robert Gillespie, the chief executive of Cleveland-based KeyCorp, "then we're putting...

...billionaire Richard Cross on the TV series Murder One, co-wrote the screenplay for Big Night "out of frustration with the films I was making." (Among his movies: Beethoven and Jury Duty.) Big Night's theme, making money vs. staying true to one's talents, will no doubt touch a chord in many of his peers. But the setting, a down-on-its-luck Italian restaurant, is all Tucci--a devotee of Italian food as well as Italian neorealism...
