...Federal Reserve Board, made a secret trip to Mexico to try to expedite a loan package for the roughly $6 billion that the country needs to continue servicing its foreign debt. Though a rescue loan now seems likely, the conditions set by financiers will probably be tough. Commercial banks have refused to bail Mexico out until it has reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. And the IMF will not help until the country has slashed its domestic budget and reduced an inflation rate that may exceed 90% this year. The more Mexico tries to placate its creditors, however...
