...song, which is parodied in the Lampoon, has meant much to generations of Harvard men, and it seems almost sacrilegious to distort the well-known verses to furnish sport for a few readers. It was especially unfortunate that this should have appeared on the day of the Intercollegiate Track Meet. Harvard men might understand it as a protest against the suggestion to change the words of "Fair Harvard"; but men from other colleges--if any of them chanced to see the Lampoon--would have but a poor opinion of Harvard's reverence for one of her oldest traditions...
...hope that the opportunity of witnessing upon our own grounds one of the finest intercollegiate track meets ever held is generally appreciated by members of the University, and that due credit is given to those who were instrumental in bringing it to Cambridge again. One of the strongest factors in deciding upon the Stadium this year was the financial success of the last meet, and it is gratifying to learn that Saturday's meet was even more profitable. ...finals of the thirty-second annual intercollegiate track meet will be held in the Stadium this afternoon, beginning at 3 o'clock. Reserved seats at $1.50 and $1 are on public sale at the Athletic Office and at Leavitt & Peirce's in Cambridge, and in Boston at Wright & Ditson's, or may be obtained at the gate. Admission to the east side of the Stadium will be 50 cents. Baseball special season tickets will not admit, as the meet is not held under the auspices of the Harvard Athletic Association...
