Intensive practice for the winter track meets got under way yesterday afternoon when the University and Freshman runners worked out in the new baseball cage and on the Soldiers Field board track. Three positions are open to candidates in the seven weeks competition for track managers. The winner of the competition will be second assistant manager of track for the remainder of his Sophomore year, assistant manager in his Junior year, and manager in his final year. The second man in this competition will receive the cross country managership next year and will become associate manager when he becomes a Senior, while the man who places third will be class track manager in 1930.
