...you’ve ever been shoehorned into making the trek from Grays to Vanserg in just seven minutes, relief may be on the way: the Committee on Undergraduate Education is considering adding more time for traveling between classes. While the Student Handbook officially allots five minutes for students to get from one class to another, CUE members said, seven minutes has become the norm. The committee is considering expanding this time frame to as long as 15 minutes. Members of the faculty and administration noted that the time allotted for commuting was decided upon when most classes convened...

...Under-Secretary General of Humanitarian affairs Jan Egeland called “the world’s most neglected humanitarian crisis.” The three-mile GuluWalk aimed to draw attention to the victimized children of Northern Uganda’s Acholiland and the estimated 20-kilometer trek that many abandoned children walked daily to avoid abduction by the Lord’s Resistance Army. Earlier in September, NASA announced that Opportunity would wander farther than it ever had in the search for more data. The rover is embarking on a long trek to a crater roughly 7 miles (12 km) away. That's about the total amount of ground it has covered since it arrived. Even if it follows a beeline route, its slow speed and the starts and stops it must make along the way limit it to about 110 yd. (100 m) per day--meaning it will need two years to get where it's going. Still, the trip should be easier...

...hell do you think you are?" I was thrilled, and I wasn't surprised at the reaction. I understand that it's a precious thing. You don't want it in the hands of someone who a) doesn't appreciate it or b) might seek to undermine it. Star Trek is a beloved story and is being treated as such. It's being done very seriously. There's no attempt to wink at the camera...
