Cleveland's new windows last week offered impressive opposition to this trend. They were not only magnificent and intricate examples of the stained-glass worker's art. They were Renaissance-style windows of the sort first-rate U.S. stained-glass makers had been studiously avoiding since the early 1900s. Last year there were 2145 students in the Summer School, of whom 57 per cent were men and 48 per cent women. Although the trend in the last few years has been towards a growing proportion of women, this year will probably see that trend reversed. Despite the large numbers of women who are expected to attend, there will probably be a considerably greater number of men, especially Harvard undergraduates.
