...very heavy one. At centre, Cutton, of the Theological School, weighs 210 lbs., and is a very hard worker. Brown, Cadwalader, Chadwick and Sheldon, the leading candidates for guard, are all heavy men and any two of them, with Cutton or Harvey at centre, make a very strong trio for the line. Cadwalader is also very sure on a kick. Allen, Marshall and Post are all good at tackle, and Captain Rodgers, who has only been in the line-up for a short time so far, promises to be in even better shape than last year. ...Parker '98, as the page, did not make much of his part, while T. L. Homes '99, as the duke, overdid his. F. Barry '97, made a blustering brigand. The solos by Waterhouse were sung well, but lacked life, with the exception of his part in the trio with Newell and Cunnigham. Newell made a capital jovial count and Cunningham as the elderly daughter was funny...
...Frothingham who played Lucille made a most effective girl. H. W. Walch as Madame Jourdain was rather stiff at first, but later in the play did better. The trio in the first act by Valentine '98, Denison '99 and Waterhouse '98 and the ballets did much to enliven the different parts of the play...
