Diplomatic visits by heads of state are mostly symbolic affairs, concerned less with ironing out differences than with paying respects in a formal, stylized setting. In that sense, China President Hu Jintao's upcoming trip to Japan - the first by a Chinese head of state since 1998 - is expected to be run of the mill. The meticulously scripted itinerary calls for Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda to play host as Hu strolls through Yokohama's Chinatown, visits temples in Nara and dines at the Imperial Palace. After all, trip-hop was a movement firmly entrenched in the 90s, petering out with Massive Attack’s “Mezzanine” in 1998. Without a cultural groundswell like that of the original Bristol scene to inspire a new direction for the sound, Portishead seemed destined to gather dust alongside the decade?...

After being signed by the Gersh Agency last summer through connections made during the Harvardwood 101 trip she took intersession of her junior year, Kargman has taken her senior spring off of theater at Harvard to pursue professional film, television, and theater auditions in New York, a process she will continue full-time after graduation. Eonnet’s talents as a filmmaker have particularly aided Kargman in juggling...
