Chrysler executives insist that their numbers were not as bad as they appear. "Chrysler Group's large-car, minivan, crossover and truck segments all posted increases in retail sales in August," says Steven Beahm, vice president of sales operations, adding that Chrysler now has a 28-day supply of vehicles on dealer lots, the lowest figure in decades. Beahm also notes that Chrysler's truck, van and Jeep sales have been relatively stable. Of course, that's a far cry from what's needed most right now - sales growth. ...parade of innovative new models could change Chrysler's tarnished image, but that's not happening anytime soon. The only near-term "new" product from Chrysler is a heavy-duty pickup truck that will debut in October. After that, the automaker's next big introduction comes in the first quarter of 2010, when the new Jeep Grand Cherokee debuts. Homosexuality is taboo in Iraq, making pinning down a body count nearly impossible. Human Rights Watch--which gathered its information from interviews with Iraqis, activists, journalists and doctors--estimates that through...

The family lived in the Linden Houses, a complex of 19 buildings completed in 1957 that contained 1,590 apartments. After losing his job driving a truck, Blankfein's father took a night job sorting mail at the post office - "which in our neck of the woods was considered to be a very good job, because you couldn't lose it," Blankfein says. His mother worked as a receptionist at a burglar-alarm company...
...reporters' attempts to get details on the potential firings. They also offered little to help Iraqis sleep at night. Indeed, predicted Rukabi: "There will be political, security and media pressures in order to escalate the situation from now until the elections." With the elections not till January 2010, the truck-bombings have become additional fodder for the country's volatile politics, which are even more frenetic as the political parties work on solidifying alliances and coalitions. Expect the campaign season to be long and rocky and explosive...
