Seasoned, frog-voiced Marjorie Rambeau puts on Marie Dressler's costume; villainized, kinky-haired Alan Hale plays the Wallace Beery part of Bullwinkle, Annie's rival. Like all good skates on the screen, Annie builds herself a heap of trouble before she rescues the mortgage and gets the young folks (Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman) together for a happy ending. The result is passable, not irresistible...
