...going to get my one criticism out of the way now and be done with it: the pit orchestra is terrible. It’s been terrible at every HRG&SP production I’ve seen here, but this one beats them all. It is constantly out of tune, out of rhythm, out of sync, and it single-handedly ruins a few otherwise excellent musical numbers. At the beginning of the second act, as the orchestra started tuning, all I could think was, “Why bother...
...penultimate and lengthiest deception, Conway convinces an almost pitiable lounge singer, Lee Pratt (Jim Davidson), that Kubrick’s connections will land him a spot on the Las Vegas show circuit. Unfortunately, a few songs seem to lapse into a boring lull without really ever going anywhere. For example, the album opens with “Two Receivers,” a song that comes closer...
...looming over O’Donnell Field. But the teams will not have to wait very long to play each other, as today the tarp will be rolled off and the first pitch will be thrown at 3 p.m. The Crimson (6-10, 2-2 Ivy) is looking to tune up for this weekend’s two double-headers against Ancient Eight foes Princeton and Cornell. Harvard has been inconsistent in the early stages of the season, splitting its first four conference games last weekend in twinbills against Penn and Columbia following a 4-8 spring training showing...
