Professor W. M. Davis has returned from his journey to Turkestan, as a member of the Carnegie Institute Expedition for archaeological and geographic study, which was led by Professor Raphael Pumpelly of Newport. The chief subjects of his geographic investigations were the elevated shore lines of the Caspian Sea, the extensive river-plains of central Turkestan, and the terraces and glacial deposits among the western ranges of the Tian Shan mountain system.
