...Jesus bests Lincoln in the number of published books devoted to a single person - Gopnik offers a meditation on each man's most literary qualities: Lincoln's deceptively simple legalistic language and Darwin's crystalline powers of observation. And what could have been a gimmick (a book timed to twin bicentennials is as close as historical biographies get to a home run) becomes something more, a learned treatise that worships learning. Gone is the overly twee writing of Gopnik's memoir-inflected works (Paris to the Moon, Through the Children's Gate), and in its place is a succint, convincing...

Guyuron's team had the twins fill out extensive questionnaires about their lives - everything from how many times...

For twin pairs under 40, the heavier one looked significantly older. But surprisingly, after 40, that same four-point difference in BMI made the heavier twin look significantly younger. ...study's authors theorize that "volume replacement" - that is, fat filling in wrinkles - accounts for the rejuvenated appearance of the over-40 twins. This theory was supported even more dramatically among twins older than 55. For them, having as much as an eight-point-higher BMI than their twin was associated with a younger appearance in the face.
