He caught a punt in mid-field and scored after a brilliant run; in addition he ran back two kick-offs to the middle of the field. His playing was by far the best of the afternoon. During the scrimmage the first team substitutes scored three touchdowns, Pierce making the other two. This scrimmage was carried through in good style, both teams showing more snap and speed than the others...

Three very important changes were made in the order of the University crew yesterday. Bacon, who has rowed port on the University crew for the past two years, was shifted to the starboard side of the boat and put in at 5. Strong was taken from 5 in the second boat to fill Bacon's place at 4. Metcalf moved from 5 to 3 in the University boat, replacing Whitney, who went in at 5 on the second crew...
...numerous competitions for these men, the dates of which will be posted in the Locker Building. As usual there will be the Freshman Games and the Fall Handicap Meet before Christmas, and the B. A. A. Games on February 12, when an attempt will be made to run two relay races. These will be followed by the Spring Handicap Games, the Dartmouth and Yale Dual Meets, and the Intercollegiates. There will also be many other games for men to get practice in competition...
...Haven, Conn., October 5, 1909.--Yale will play the third game of its schedule this afternoon with Holy Cross. The Holy Cross team is not up to the Standard of their teams in past years, and is very light. Yale has improved considerably in the two days of practice since the Syracuse game...
