In a story about Google's donation of 20 Android cell phones to the notorious introduction to computer science, CS 50, The Crimson quoted instructor David J. Malan '99 praising Google's "dragon drop programming piece" -- a fanciful typo that should have read, "drag and drop." Needless to say, Malan got a kick out of the typo and breathed a bit of fire back at The Crimson. Amid the gruesome news generated by the world's auto industry these days, this bit of information almost reads like a typo: new car registrations in Germany rose 21% year on year in February, the country's Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) announced on March 3. I thought I had come to a typo in your article "Got Wind?" when I read about the Michigander who spent $16,000 to get a wind turbine that "can generate 1.5 kilowatts ... enough to power the average light bulb for 15 hours" [Dec. 1]. And that, he admits, is on a day with "decent wind." A few nuclear plants can power more light bulbs than that, and you don't have to sit around waiting for a breeze.
